In a nuclear power plant, the reactor produces steam at 523C and the cooling tower eliminates waste heat into the atmosphere at 31.0C. The power plant generates 510.0 megawatts of electric (or mechanical) power. If the efficiency is that of a Carrot Engine,

Efficiency of a Carnot engine is given by:
η_c = 1 - T_cold/T_hot
where T_cold and T_hot are absolute temperatures

For this process:
η_c = 1 - (31+273)K / (523+ 273)K = 1 - 304K/796K
= 0.6180
= 61.8%
